Reliable EBC Redstuff Pads
The brake system is one of the most significant parts of a vehicle that need to be constantly checked and maintained. Brake pads are one of the components of disk brakes which are present not only in automobiles but also in machines having rotors like a generator. The brake pads are steel backing plates having friction material attached to the surface that faces the disk brake rotor.
When the brakes are applied with a piston, the caliper presses the two pads together into the spinning rotor to slow down and stop the vehicle. When the rotor comes in contact with a brake pad it is heated and it transfers little amounts of friction to the disc. This will turn dull gray and the brake pad and disc will then “stick” to each other, providing the friction for the vehicle’s brake system.

One of EBC’s products is Redstuff and it has always been known for its low dust ability but the latest blend has greatly reduced the phenomenon of pad pick up or disc scoring and reduced dust even further. The Redstuff is the first in EBC brake pads used for street driving, for prestige and faster cars above 200BHP. The 09 version on EBC red stuff sets new standards in brake performance.
The Redstuff pads are made of a Kevlar fiber based brake compound that is enhanced with ceramic elements. If you have previously tried EBC redstuff pre-ceramic compound, this material is way more improved becauseiIt lasts longer, brakes better and is more silent. Being a hard wearing pad, bed-in times can be as long as 2500 kilometers that is why drivers must be patient until the pad takes up the shape of their brake rotor.
Redstuff however as a harder compound does take longer to fully bed in to achieve its highest levels of performance that can be up to 1500 miles urban use. At this time, the odd “chirp” of brake noise may be heard when starting from cold in damp and cold conditions at walking pace speed. Just press the pedal to clear the rotor of any dampness to leave EBC Red stuff a brake pad that inspires confidence in all cars. The thought here is to be patient to give the pads a full chance to bed down. Once it has achieved this state, it will be a truly impressive fast road pad for repeated heavy braking.
